This is a video of a Lapidus arthrodesis for a bunion deformity in a pediatric patient, no distal procedure was preformed. Cross-screw fixation was used for fixation, this is a 2 part video.
This is a blog for foot and ankle care information, questions and second opinions. I will discuss topics in an easy to understand manner to help educate those with foot conditions. I have a special interest in medical mission trips and the Ponseti treatment of clubfoot deformities. I do all types of foot and ankle care from reconstructive surgery to simple routine foot care. I hope to provide advice for those seeking help with their foot and ankle problems.

Dr. DeHeer, I am a newish podiatrist in New York. I have a Lapidus scheduled for this Friday. Its my second time performing this procedure. I watched your video of part 1 of this procedure and I'm wondering where I can find the second half. You are inspiring to watch as a surgeon. I also have a question: what instrument did you use to open the joint initially? was it a periosteal elevator? Thanks so much for the video.
